Honoring our service members at Punchbowl.
Troop 1 offers opportunities and activities allowing each scout to develop his skills and experience the outdoors. Some are directed towards rank advancement; some are just plain fun. This website, an extension of our long-running troop newsletter The Bugle, is an example of one such troop activity.
Where group learning is beneficial, the troop provides group opportunities to earn merit badges (e.g., the swimming badge). Older scouts and badge counselors mentor and certify younger scouts in individual skills and requirements.
Troop 1 meets regularly at 4 p.m. Sundays, a time when few conflicts occur with school/youth oriented and family centered activities. Meetings offer advancement, leadership, and socialization opportunities as well as a break during which scout games are played.
Hands-on community involvement occurs through troop service projects. The American Cancer Society (Relay for Life), the Hawaii Food Bank, and IHS regularly benefited from Troop 1′s assistance.

River rafting in Idaho.
Hikes and campouts are offered to allow scouts to experience Oahu’s natural offerings. Yearly treks are made to a neighbor island AND a mainland location. Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico–scouting’s “ultimate adventure”–is a favorite trip; one which Troop 1 is unique among Hawaii’s troops in offering.
Troop 1 is managed by a Parent Committee that meets once monthly. Membership is open to all interested current and former troop parents.

Wow, what a great website. I’m glad the hearts and minds of our adult leaders came together to come up with a fantastic information sharing site. Best wishes for continued success.
