• Troop One Advancement Policy

Scouts and Parents, please note that a scout may NOT get anything in Tenderfoot through First Class signed off until he has completed the Boy Scout joining requirements and has completed a scoutmaster conference.

Please note that there will be no meeting on December 25, 2011 (Merry Christmas!) or January 1, 2012 (Happy New Year!).

Eagles

Picture 24There are eleven levels or achievement, or ranks, in Scouting: five in Cub Scouts and six in Boy Scouts, the Eagle rank being the highest.

Since 1911, becoming an Eagle Scout has been a driving vision and desire of almost all scouts. Yet, over time, only 4% of overall Scout membership–slightly more than two million Scouts–have earned this rank. For those who do, the phrase “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle,” and the responsibilities imbued therein, have become guiding tenets in their lives.

Troop 1 is one of the highest Eagle producing troops in the State of Hawaii. Our talented leadership team understands the intricacies of the process and is ready and able to work with our scouts to earn the Eagle rank. We believe that, with a bit of help, becoming an Eagle can be the vision of all of our scouts and that we will see them honored here.

This section of our website is a tribute to our boys who have earned the Eagle rank. Clicking on the links below will direct you to their names, to their proud achievements, and to their wonderful stories.

  1. I was in Troop 1 in the early ’70′s (Dayton Wilson era). I started out in the Squirrel patrol but transferred to the Cobra Patrol and evetually became Patrol Leader. In 1974 the Troop 1 Cobra patrol won the statewide Camporee under my leadership as well as the leadership of my Assistant Patrol Leader Brian Wright. In June of 1974 my family left Hawaii and moved to the Mainland. I earned Eagle Scout in 1977 in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Troop 1 gave me invaluable life experiences. I now live in Arlington, Virginia. Best wishes and warm aloha.

    • Thanks so much for your comment, Elliott. As you may know, this is Scouting’s 100th anniversary and Troop 1 will be joining in the celebration. I appreciate you addition to our trove of memories! There is no longer a Squirrel Patrol but the Cobra Patrol is still alive. Congratulations on your Eagle Scout rank and it’s good to know that Troop 1 helped you on your life path.
